The One Harbor Point neighborhood is being thoughtfully designed to contribute to the vitality of downtown Gig Harbor, preserve a part of Gig Harbor’s heritage, open up territorial views and create new public access to the waterfront. It will also generate ongoing revenue to serve the Ben B. Cheney Foundation’s mission of improving the quality of life in communities where the Cheney Lumber Company was active.
Located between Soundview and Harborview Drives, One Harbor Point is designed to help define the southern edge of the downtown district and is scaled to offer a harmonious transition to nearby single-family houses. The neighborhood’s creation will also open panoramic views of the harbor and Mount Rainier from Soundview Drive.
Plans for One Harbor Point include dedicating a waterfront boat barn, deck and marina to the City of Gig Harbor for use as a community asset and creating new public access to the waterfront. The boat barn, built in 1925 as the Washington Egg & Poultry Co-op Building, is currently used as commercial space. Rent from the commercial space and the marina could provide revenue for the City.
